I stood before the fires
there amidst leaf and branch of tree and briar
there beneath the crescent of moon and glint of star
with the many
where for centuries the people have gathered and chosen
and I searched and searched
and they came
and I graciously declined
and I searched again
until I found...
and without hesitation I chose
eye to eye
a searing gaze, penetrating, knowing.
the hooting owl called through the wood saying
hand clasped in hand
with feather feet we placed our steps
in crunching leaves
as crickets sang
and frogs kept rhythm
listening for the tree
we carried on with smiling lips...
until one spoke
"come before me, touch my bark...
feel my sap, caress my leaves, feel my life, my time, my way..."
and so we did
and wiser for it
"come before me, touch one another...
feel your fire, caress your skin, embrace your hearts, your souls, your
and so we did
and fuller for it
"open, open, open..."
was all I heard
and so my mind
and so my eyes
and so my heart
and so my soul
and so my lips
and so my legs
and so my jewel...
and I took
fierce and proud
wanting as panthers
gentle and elegant
soaring as birds
we danced - so joined
and I heard the tree begin to cry
and I felt the grass begin to grow
and I felt the bloom begin to fruit
and I felt peace spread out across the land
and I felt hunger eased within the belly
and I felt illness cured among the sick
and I heard music there within the silence
and I heard the stars calling...
and I heard you
as you stared into my soul
and poured forth your seed
and all was vital and all was faire
and all we heard was the breath of life
and all we saw was light
and all we felt was love
and all because
we chose to dance in the well lit fire,
the ancient fire
of the horned one,
the giver of life
